Starting another series for my blog – #NessFoodSeries, I want to make it special by doing a review about my very first time eating raw foods. This is really an honest review. My family and closest friends knew I was not a fan of raw foods. Actually, I don’t even want to try it. But, what makes me try this Salmon HQ. Well, I stumbled upon it on one of my friend’s IG Stories and then I looked it up and checked their Instagram, I saw tagged photos from different creators and influencers, so I told myself, “Oh! There must be something special about this!” So I drove down to Ortigas to check it myself. Located at The Corner Market in Podium Mall.
Without further ado, this is the first menu that we had. The Sushi Boat, it is loaded with Cream Cheese Salmon, Aburi Salmon, Sushi, California Maki, and Tuna Sashimi. The first that I tasted and the one that struck my tastebuds was the Cream Cheese Salmon, I never thought that it was so good, the cream cheese and the salmon went well together melting in my mouth. The creamy texture of the cream cheese is not overpowering. The combination is so pleasing that you would want to get some more.
The next on our menu is the Inura plates. This is so fancy and the taste was exquisite. The Uni Ikura (the third from the left), was the one that I became obsessed about, it has a unique texture and flavor and since it was my first time, I even did some research about it and I found out that it is a popular delicacy in Japanese cuisine. It is made from fresh salmon roe that has been marinated in soy sauce and served raw. A really must-try for any sushi lover. Other flavors that they offer are Gohan, Kani Salad, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Miso Salmon, and Tuna Shoyu.
Next, the Poke Nachos, you will never believe it but it’s a nacho with fresh salmon and tuna! You won’t even taste that it is raw. Unbelievable, you may think now that I am overreacting but a big NO! It is what it is. Crispy nachos topped with fresh and healthy salmon and tuna.
Next, the Spicy Salmon Poke Bowl. What I like about this dish is it is so colorful, featuring the shredded crab sticks and crunchy vegetables, topped with salmon that is a bit firmer, it is light, creamy, sweet and spicy, crunchy, and savory all at the same time. It’s really a must-try on their menu as well.
Another one on our list- is the Salmon Teppan. For me, this is a “sulit” meal. This Salmon Teppan is part of the Bento Box on the menu. You have your rice, your veggies and of course your viand, the Salmon. Other choices include-, Beef Teppan, Shrimp Tempura, and Chicken Karaage.
The last one that I want to share with you is the Seafood Curry, this is the least that I like but it is still good. I am not also a super fan of curry but this feisty seafood curry dish packs a punch of flavor. It has a mild smell of curry that will make you crave for it. I honestly just taste a little bit of this, but it has jampacked of baby shrimps, and it’s worth it especially if you love curry and seafood. Good combination.
My overall impressions are Salmon HQ is truly a salmon lover’s paradise. They have so many menu to offers, not just simple ones I believed they carefully curated the menus to showcase the incredible versatility of salmon to bring out it’s flavor. I love how they proved to me that their menus are very delicious knowing that I am not a fan of raw foods, but I do like it.
